Questions dog parents ask
Short answers, no jargon. Still wondering about something? Call or text (423) 521-1913.
Q: What training methods do you use?
A: Only positive reinforcement — treats, praise, and games. No shock collars, prong collars, or choke chains, ever. You learn the same kind methods to use at home.
Q: Where do lessons happen?
A: At your home or a place we agree on around Chattanooga, Hixson, Ooltewah, East Brainerd, Signal Mountain, Lookout Mountain, or Ringgold, GA. Zoom lessons are available anywhere.
Q: How much does it cost?
A: A single session is $75. Puppy Training is $249 for 4 sessions. Basic Manners is $349 for 6 sessions, $449 for 8, or $599 for 12. Zoom sessions are $49. Your first step is a free 15-minute phone consultation.
Q: Do you offer any discounts?
A: Yes. 10% off the 8- and 12-session Basic Manners packages; a free 13th session with the 12-session package; 10% off any package within 60 days of adopting from a shelter or rescue; $25 off for you and a friend when they book through your referral; and 10% off training a second dog in the same home. One discount per booking — they can't be combined.
Q: Do teachers, military, or first responders save?
A: Yes — 10% off any package. Just mention it when you book.
Q: How many sessions will my dog need?
A: It depends on your dog and how much you practice between lessons. Most families start with a package and add sessions only if they want more. Shaina will give you a straight answer on your free consultation call.
Q: Do you offer board-and-train or boarding?
A: No. Wag Theory teaches you to train your own dog in private lessons, so the skills stick at home. Boarding and daycare are not offered.
Q: Do you train fearful or reactive dogs?
A: Yes. Helping fearful, anxious, and reactive dogs build confidence is a big part of Wag Theory. Lessons are calm, private, and at your dog's pace.
Q: What ages do you work with?
A: All ages — brand-new puppies through senior dogs. Puppies under 6 months start with Puppy Training.
Q: What if I need to reschedule?
A: Life happens. Call or text (423) 521-1913 and we will find a new time that works.
Q: How do I pay?
A: Payment options are covered on your free consultation call, so you know everything up front before you commit to anything.
Q: What do I need to have ready for lessons?
A: You provide your dog's training treats and proper equipment — small, soft treats your dog loves, a regular flat collar or harness, and a standard 4–6 foot leash. Only positive reinforcement equipment is used: no shock collars, prong collars, choke chains, or retractable leashes. If you're not sure what to get, ask on your free consultation call and Shaina will point you to the right things.
